Aperion was CYOA story app from 2017, where readers could follow a story, vote for how they want the story to continue, and customize character gender. It was intended to study whether character gender influenced what readers wanted characters to do.

Unfortunately, the project had to be discontinued. Text required placeholders, which was difficult to maintain, and there were not enough regular participants to make the study viable.
