Subject(course) administrator using Devilry for electronic Deliveries
As a course administrator, you can administer the assignments on a period (semester) and the examiners/correctors. To enter the administrator interface, select the administrator tab once you are logged in.
In the administrator tab, you can search for anything related to the subjects/periods (semesters) where you are registered as administrator.
To create an assignment, click the button named Assignment. Here you need to enter the name of the assignment and the period (semester) where this assignment belongs. The publishing time is when the students will be able to see the assignment.
If you only use Devilry to give feedback, but students deliver through an alternative channel, remember to select non-electronic in the field labled how students add deliveries. This can also be used if the students deliver through an alternative electronic system such as email.
Only students added to an AssignmentGroup on an assignment can add deliveries to the assignment. Other student do not even see the assignment.
Add students by clicking the Students-button at the left on the toolbar. Click the Create groups-button and choose either manually or an automated import made for your local institution if that is available. The next step is to create a deadline for the assignment and then you're done.
If students can or must work in groups you can create AssignmentGroups containing multiple students. All the students on the AssignmentGroup will have permission to make deliveries and view the grade given by the examiner(s).
The grade editor defines how examiners give feedback to students on the assignment. To choose a grade editor, press the button "Grade Editor" in the toolbar, and from the drop down, press Change grade editor.
- For assignments graded approved/not approved, you should choose the Approved editor.
- Simple schema/form is good for assignments where multiple parts should be evaluated individually. For example: assignments with multiple subsections, or assignments where students should deliver multiple files, and each file is evaluated individually.
- With the Automatic grading-editor, you can map a range of points to a text. For example: E requires 20 points, D requires 40 points, ..., A requires 90 points. Examiners provides the number of points, and Devilry automatically sets the grade as you have specified.
Some of the grade editors require configuration. If this is the case, you get a clear warning message after you have saved your choice of grade editor. Follow the instructions in the warning message to configure the grade editor.
You can change and re-configure the grade editor at any time. However changes to the grade editor does not affect feedbacks that have already been given. Therefore, it is rarely a good idea to change the grade editor once the examiners have started their work.
The examiners who will correct the deliveries made by students must be given access to the assignments. More correctly, they must be added as examiners on the AssignmentGroups that they should correct/give feedback to.
Do this by marking all the students (groups) that should be given an examiner and press the "Advanced" button and choose "Change examiners". You have a few choices:
- Replace: Replace the current examiner(s) with the new examiners you choose.
- Add: Add new examiners to the selected students in addition to the current examiners already registered.
- Random distribute: Randomly distribute examiners of your choosing on the selected students.
- Clear: Remove the examiners from the selected students.
- Match tagged examiners to equally tagged groups: Typically used to set examiners as they are registered in another system that is synced with Devilry. For Norwegian universities, students and examiners are typically tagged with their classes/groups from Felles Studentsystem. If your System-administrator has tagged examiners and AssignmentGroups (you see the tags of groups in parenthesis when you import groups), this option sets equally tagged examiners to these groups.
