User preferences

You may access your preferences by clicking Options->Edit preferences.
These settings may only be modified when Patchy is running with elevated permissions:
Use Patchy as default for:
- .torrent files: If checked, Patchy will handle .torrent files on your system
- Magnet links: If checked, Patchy will handle magnet links on your system
Start Up
- Start when Windows starts: If checked, Patchy will run when you log in
- Start minimized: If the above is checked and this is checked, Patchy will be minimized when started on log in
These settings do not depend on elevated permissions:
Privacy
- Clear torrent cache: Clears your current session next time you exit Patchy
- Save session: If checked, your session will be saved when you exit Patchy
- Check for updates automatically: If checked, you will be prompted when updates become available
General
- Prompt on magnet links/torrent files: When checked, the Add Torrent window is shown when .torrent files are opened and magnet links clicked
- Delete .torrents after adding them: When checked, Patchy will delete .torrent files when opened
- Seed torrents only when idle: When checked, Patchy will not seed any torrents if you are actively using your computer
- Default download location: This the default location for quick add, and in the add torrent window, and several other places.
- Move completed to: If not empty, completed torrents will be moved to this directory
- Automatically add torrents from: This section allows you to set directories where .torrent files will be watched, and added automatically
Listener Settings
- Incoming port: The incoming port for TCP connections
- Randomize on startup: Randomizes the incoming port when Patchy starts up
- Map with UPnP: Maps the incoming port using UPnP when possible
Bandwidth Settings
- Max Upload Speed: The maximum total upload speed across all torrents
- Max Download Speed: The maximum total download speed across all torrents
- Global Max Connections: The total number of peers all torrents can connect to
- Max Connections per Torrent: The maximum connections any one torrent can use
- Upload Slots per Torrent: The number of upload slots allocated to each torrent
General BitTorrent Settings
- Enable DHT: When checked, Patchy will use DHT for faster torrenting
Encryption
- Controls encryption between peers. "Forced" is suggested.
Seeding
- Stop seeding after (hours): After this many hours of seeding have passed, torrents will automatically stop seeding
- Stop seeding after reaching a certain ratio: When a torrent reaches this U/D ratio, they will automatically stop seeding
Tray Options
- Show tray icon: Controls the presence of the Patchy taskbar icon
- Close to system tray: When checked, closing the Patchy window will hide it in the tray instead
- Minimize to system tray: When checked, minimizing the Patchy window will hide it in the tray instead
- Show notification on torrent completion: When checked, Patchy will display a notice from the taskbar when torrents complete
Confirmations
- Confirm exit if there are active torrents: When checked, exiting Patchy will show a warning if there are any seeding or downloading torrents active
- Confirm torrent removal: When checked, removal of torrents will prompt for confirmation
- Start torrents immediately when added: When checked, new torrents will begin downloading/seeding immediately
- Warn before opening potentially dangerous files: When checked, a warning is shown before certain harmful types of files are opened
- Show warning when running Patchy as administrator: When checked, a warning is shown whenever Patchy is run as administraotr
Double Click
- Seeding torrents: Changes the action when a seeding torrent is double clicked in the torrent list
- Downloading torrents: Changes the action when a downloading torrent is double clicked in the torrent list
This pane allows you to run a shell command when a torrent finishes downloading.
This pane allows you to configure RSS feeds.
This pane displays version and license information.
