Maintainer list broken

What is the problem?

Liquid code in index.md that should list the maintainers is broken. It is showing directly in the rendered page instead of rendering properly.

Good point. I'm not seeing maintainers listed in the > 10 lessons I checked. Also, those who are listed currently are not actually the current maintainers.

I suggest we remove the list of maintainers from the repo.

Right, this is a hangover from before lessons were migrated to the Workbench. I agree that it makes more sense to remove the list anyway. We almost have everything in place for 'Cite this lesson' pages to be added to lesson sites (hope to introduce them later this year), which will include info about authors, maintainers, etc so that folks like @jonjab get some more visibility for the great contributions they make to the lessons.
