The rst versions are created in the docs/ directory and used to build the rst-based docs.

This PR updates the way the docs are built, using pandoc to convert Markdown files in the repository root into reStructuredText files in the
docs/sourcedirectory in order to match the rest of the reStructuredText-based documentation.
