saboteur proposed a "light touch" approach to allow a bigger kernel (I followed this approach, creating what I termed saboteur layout )
Unfortunately this limits initrd to 9Mb (which caused me an issue) AND prevents me switching to the layout I termed Mouiche layout using your script qnap_mtd_resize_for_bullseye .
I have made mods to your resize script to allow migration from the saboteur layout.
I have run this on my QNAP TS412 (and have kept logs ...sadly only the dry run +_qnap_mtd_display.py seem to have been retained)
