This plugin is intended in creating custom alerts for different events like messages, stats, or built-in notifications.
Begin by first clicking on the Watchdog bell icon in your RuneLite sidebar.
You should now have your Watchdog panel open and might already have a few alerts available. We now need to figure out what we want an alert for, in this case we are wanting to AFK a dragon task so we will make an alert for our antifire potion. When drinking an antifire potion we can see in our chatbox we receive a message when the potion is about to expire. This will be our "trigger" for the alert.
Start by clicking the green + icon located on the top right, followed by Game Message
.
Now we need to give the alert a name, a debounce time, what game message for it to look for, and which chat box to look in for the trigger message. Since we want to be notified before the potion is going to expire, we will name this alert Antifire Potion Expiring
. We will leave debounce at the default of 0
and we will now use the eyedropper icon to select our in-game message for our trigger.
We now have told the plugin what to look for but now we need to tell it what we want it to do with the information. In this case, since we are AFKing dragons, we want something to catch our attention as we are watching a movie on our other monitor. Let's set up a flashing screen followed by a sound effect. We can do this by pressing the green + icon just under where we set our trigger and selecting Sound Effect
. Now click the same green + icon once more and select Screen Flash
.
We can change which sound effect we want by using the up/down arrows next to the sound id number or by clicking the underlined wiki page link to find a specific sound and inputting the value into the box. Since we are using a potion that is purple, let's look under where our screen flash notification is and click the red box. Set it to a purple color and tweak it however you would like. Underneath our now purple box we can choose if we want it to flash purple, smoothly flash purple, or have a solid purple screen, let's keep it set to Flash
. Finally, we need to set the value for how long we want it to flash for. For this alert, we want it to flash until we click on our screen so we will set the value to 0
. Your entire alert should now look like this.
You can now test the alert by forcing it to trigger without having to drink a sip of the antifire potion before you go out by clicking the vial icon at the very top of the alert. You can also test each individual notification by clicking their own vial icon.
Congratulations on making your first alert using Watchdog! Please note that this is just a taste of the many ways you can use and set up your alerts to have a better and more enjoyable experience in the game.
