Welcome to the PyTide wiki!

PyTide is a Wave Client that aims to hit the open-source community with more features, better interface, and super compatibility with all major wave servers by not building a scrap of server code. It’s just a client, designed to work with servers everyone else is already using. That way we can focus our effort on quickly making a usable, socially-oriented client that people can fall in love with long before Google Wave kicks the bucket.

It’s currently in development for Mac/Linux, and should run without major issues on those OS’s from a stable commit. It doesn’t really do anything yet except look pretty and tell you what your unread waves are, but we’re working hard on that every day. If you want to get involved, or even just test it out, check out the Getting Involved page. It’s not all programming jobs either, there’s a ton of stuff you can do even if you don’t know Python from PHP.

Questions? Contact the lead developer one of the following ways:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Google Voice: use the widget on the official site
  • Wave: Start a wave with [email protected] or, even better, use one of the PyTide public waves, which can be found with the query with:public tag:PyTide. That way, other developers are also available to field questions, which is really the best option since they all have different areas of expertise.
