What happened?

One of the my updates to #1301 (52dbd65) introduced a bug in the dropdown layer selection that allows a user to select monthly vs seasonal for the CDI layer. See attached loom for demonstration of the bug.

Note: This loosely related to #1322 but, imo, should be fixed first
