Step 02_Print Pieces
|
You will need to print out several pieces important to the installation of the SKR + Adaptrboard prior to beginning the disassembly of your printer.
- Go to: https://github.com/Printrbot/Adaptrboard/tree/master/Adaptrboard%20STL%20Files
- Find the folder that corresponds to your Printrbot model
- Retrieve the .STL files. You need files for:
- Control Board Mount
- There are 2 versions - one that uses plastite screws to fasten the board, and another that uses M3 bolts/nuts. You will need to choose one.
- NOTE - In order to use the M3 Nut version, you will need to provide (4) M3x15 bolts and (4) M3 nuts. These are not included in the kit.
- Controller Fan Duct
- Front / Rear Feet
- Control Board Mount
- Print them out before beginning the project
The Control Board Mount will be used to attach both the SKR as well as the Adaptrboard pieces and mount them into the Printrbot. There are two versions of the Control Board Mount: one that uses M3 bolts/nuts to fasten the SKR, and one that uses plastite screws. You will need to choose one. The plastite screws are included in the Adaptrboard kit. If you choose to use the M3 Nut version instead, you will need to provide the (4) M3x15 bolts and (4) M3 nuts used in mounting the SKR.
The fan shroud is use to direct air over the stepper drivers on the SKR board to aid in cooling. To use it, you will need to provide a 30mmx30mmx15mm 12V fan that is not included in the Adaptrboard kit.
The feet are used to stabilize and raise the Printrbot up slightly. This helps provide a little more spacing under the Printrbot as the new control board + Adaptrboard sits lower in the machine. Furthermore, it also allows for a bit more airflow to aid in cooling.
