„|” Symbol corrupts the text if replaced

Describe the bug
Attempting to replace the symbol „|” in a text script, by using the Replace tool, with any other symbol or letter (i.e. „î”), results in that symbol spreading between each character of a text string. (i.e. => î<îCîOîLîOîRî îBîLîUîEî>î) The symbol „|” will also not get replaced.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Open „Kuriimu.exe” and „message_english.mes” (Chase: Cold Case)
2. Replace a random letter with „|”
3. Replace „|” with any other symbol or letter.
   4.Check any text strings that used the „|” symbol

Expected behavior
The expected behavior was that only the symbol „|” was to be changed with the desired symbol. The symbol does not change either, if attempted replacement.
