genappup

A tool to generate Erlang .appup files, based on git meta information.

It analyzes diff between current HEAD and a specified branch/revision, generates .appup file and store it as src/{appname}.appup.src

Basic workflow

Common workflow may look like this:

  • make branch from master, for instance, myfeature

    git checkout -b myfeature

  • some code developing, fixing, etc.

  • git commit

  • go to the application root dir

  • run genappup master. It analyzes which .erl files were changed, generates appup term and save it into src/{appname}.appup.src. If .appup file already exists, genappup can either:

    • leave it as is
    • overwrite
    • save the new file alongside

You can also run genappup in 'check' mode using '-c' option

genappup -c master

In this mode genappup will check that app version is incremented when at least one of .erl files is updated compared to the specified branch.

How to build and install genappup

git clone [email protected]:EchoTeam/genappup.git
cd genappup
make

Make genappup available through your PATH variable, for example, with this:

sudo cp genappup /usr/local/bin/
