We do not guarantee backwards compatibility with 1.9.x, but this is a safe upgrade for existing servers intending to update to 1.10.2 from 1.9.x. It is not likely compatible with future versions.
There are unlikely to be additional releases for 1.10 except in the case of serious bugs or compelling requests
