Panda Express POS Project

A self-service kiosk and inventory management system for Panda Express.

Description

This project is a streamlined solution for managing orders, inventory, and employee data. It includes a customer-facing kiosk, cashier and manager interfaces, and a centralized database for seamless communication between components.

Getting Started

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/CSCE331-Fall2024/project-3-team-7b.git

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install

   • make sure to install in the my-app and backend directories
3. Start the application:

   npm run dev

Architecture Overview

The system is built using the PERN tech stack and consists of the following components:

• Frontend:
  The Customer, Cashier, and Manager Views are developed using React.js for building dynamic and interactive user interfaces.

• Backend:
  The backend is powered by Node.js and Express.js to provide API services for data management and communication with the frontend and database.

• Database:
  Uses PostgreSQL as the relational database to store and manage all system data, including inventory, employee records, orders, and transactions.

• External APIs:
  External APIs are integrated for:

  • Authentication (e.g., OAuth or third-party login services).
  • Accessibility features such as website translation.
  • Providing contextual information like weather data.

Usage

• Deploy the system in Panda Express to manage sales, orders, and inventory.
• Use the self-service kiosk to reduce customer wait times.
