Here's a much more usable beta2

Tooooons of bugfixes, mostly revolving around the deprecation of python2. There's a real hosted apt repo now, instead of just using local packages in the installer

Known bugs:

  • crappy hi-contrast battery icon for xfce-power-manager, likely to be swapped for mate-power-manager (I feel like we switch between these two with every release)
  • ssh pipemenu still busted due to python migration issues, I need to either hook pip into the installation process or package up the python3 version that's available in pip of paramiko. And then port the python2 script to python3.
  • libreoffice metapackage dependencies are busted, it's a one-liner, it'll be in the next beta
  • I ported obapps and obmenu, but they still need to be tested
  • the colors in terminator are off, but that'll probably just be a one-liner in the conf
  • conky's not launching appropriately from the autostart, but runs fine from the terminal, not sure what's going on there
  • there seems to be no firmware in the installer, even though the settings haven't changed in the live-build conf. I might just shim them in via the include.installer dir

v11.0-beta1 Pre-release
Pre-release

CAUTION: many bugs contained within!

This is simply the very first build of CBPP on top of a bullseye base (live-disc only for the moment). As such, there are many breakages with old configs, such as:

  • Clipman deprecation and swap to a new program entirely
  • mate-volume-control-applet name change, so nothing in the system tray
  • deprecated conky config, doesn't start up at all
  • terminator config seems broken, color scheme is off
  • compton, maybe failing silently, needs more testing

And likely many more! So why release? Well cause I thought it might be fun to let people in a little bit earlier than usual.

Things that still need to happen outside of bugfixing:

  • host a new bullseye repo
  • rebuild all packages
  • maybe migrate website to ec2/ecs on aws, instead of bucket webhosting
  • fix up the boot menu on the disc and add installable mode

Check it out if you're curious, but certainly don't expect to have a usable daily image!
