Limitations
The plugin has a number of limitations which you should be aware of as they may prevent it from being suitable for your needs.
-
Album artwork
The plugin can not display album artwork nor is it likely to do so anytime soon. Refer to this issue for more details. -
Using iTunes located on another computer
While you may be able to access the "iTunes Music Library.xml" through mounted shares from within XBMC, the paths to the actual media files may differ between the two systems. The xml file may refer to a particular piece of music as 'file://localhost/Users/SomeUser/Music/iTunes/Podcasts/myPodcast.mp3' whereas from the XBMC box's perspective there is nothing at this location. Refer to this issue for more details or search this thread on the XBMC forums. -
Protected content
The iTunes library may contain protected content. This content is not filtered out by the plugin and XBMC is not necessarily in a position to play this content. This is a limitation of XBMC and not the plugin. Refer to this issue for more details. -
Mixed content
Under the Dharma architecture the plugin needed to find a home in either the Audio or Video sections of the application. The developer chose to house the plugin undeder the Audio section. The plugin however does provide a complete view on the iTunes content. In doing so it does not differentiate between the music, podcasting and video content.
