CTRL P + D to open a new pane in tutorial not working

Edit: It turns out I had binded CTRL P to something else and I forgot 💀💀💀.

I'm completely new to Zellij and I tried to following along this page: https://zellij.dev/tutorials/basic-functionality/ to enter the keys in Vim and it doesn't work. The keys are captured by Vim.

First we split the terminal down so that we can run our code: Ctrl p + d then cargo run in the new pane.
