How to disable code formatting

I noticed that whenever I want to write "greater than" or "smaller than" the symbols "<=" and ">=" get swapped for something else. Is there a way to disable this behavior...?

I tried typing ">=" and "<=", and they work fine. Could you provide a screenshot or video of what you see?

Those are called font ligatures. You can turn them off in the buffer_font_features settings. Have a look here, https://zed.dev/docs/configuring-zed#buffer-font-features

I suspect you'll need to pick a font that does not have ligatures either. This is kinda annoying but we'll have to wait for a fix.

@AlienTux Bear in mind that these are font ligatures. The original characters are still exactly as they should be in your file, the editor is just rendering them as a more recognisable character (to non-programmers, anyway). They can be a bit disconcerting, so I get why you're looking to change this behaviour, but rest assured that it doesn't actually alter your code.

Yes, I completely understand that @bobbykjack . Unfortunately I found this issue when I was going to record a video for my students teaching them Iverilog and I am certain that someone will get confused if they see a strange character in there and they can't reproduce it.
