While the plugin installs smoothly on Wordpress 3.9.1, after activation, nothing got displayed on the front end as if the plugin is not installed.

hmm, thats odd...thank for noticing, I've been dedicating alot of time to https://github.com/zanematthew/zm-ajax-login-register and plan on updating Inline AJAX Comments soon.
