What is ArchLinux ?

Well, you can read more about it over here, am not gonna re-hash all that here. But I would like to add that it's more of a Base you build your system with, kinda like the base of a Lego set.

Arch Way vs ArchInstall

Please if you can, do not use the ArchInstall method, if you want to learn and grow, as was the intention behind Arch. Simply because it doesn't and will never offer anything more than the strict minimum at the cost of flexibility.

Ideally it's because Arch wasn't meant to be installed that way, with it adopting a more manual approach following The ArchWiki. Building it piece by piece forcing you to learn.

Beginner user friendly ?

In my honest opinion, nope it's not. Why ? Well, simply because you will need some level of knowledge when it comes to Linux with the will to read, which you will be doing a lot of, and learn to become self-reliant when it comes to troubleshooting.

I would not recommend you come to Arch as your very first distro, until you feel more comfortable using Linux as a whole. Otherwise you will get frustrated, and annoyed due to its bleeding-edge and Rolling nature. If you want a distro that does everything for you and still prefer to stick with Arch either find a Custom one, or build your own. If you want an install and forget one go with LMDE or find one more suited to your knowledge level...

Why did I create this ?

Now in case you did not know it already, I used to maintain a somewhat very popular Arch-Based distro called, XeroLinux. I have learned a lot during its 3 year lifespan. One of the most important things I did learn, is that I was doing it wrong. What do I mean by that is, that by making it easy to install and doing almost everything for you, I was doing you a disservice. You wouldn't feel like learning how to partition your drives, what the different FileSystems meant, etc.. Why would you when I was doing all that for you ?

That's one of the reasons I decided to drop the Distro and turn it into a more useful Post-Install toolkit. What that means is that it will be on you to learn how to install Arch, and build your Dream setup with the DE or WM you prefer, after which you can use this toolkit which, as I mentioned on main page of this repo, will allow you to get up and running fast, without it doing too much in order for you to keep learning.

Hope this helps...
