Shell Search Results list far too thin, can we adjust the width?

On Android the search results list matches the width of the shell search bar. In the picture below, the list is already getting pretty skinny. Once you add a toolbar button the search bar is even narrower, and so the results list is too thin.

Is there a way I can make that results list match the screen width? Could I use a custom renderer to achieve this? If so, which component would I target?

I think that the Xamarin.Forms.Platform.Android/Renderers/ShellSearchView.cs needs to be overriden, and that the dropdown results list is of type: AppCompatAutoCompleteTextView.

I can't figure out how to target customise ShellSearchView with [assembly: ExportRenderer... - Any thoughts?
