There is some anomaly with the results for the Japanese and Chinese Wikipedias, possibly related to encoding:
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B5%E3%82%A4%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B9

clearly lists a Science doi as ref 13 (also visible in the source code), but
http://ja.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&redirs=0&search=10.1126&fulltext=Search&ns0=1&title=Special%3ASearch&advanced=1&fulltext=Advanced+search

does not capture that, nor does the Cite-o-Meter. Also:
http://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Search&search=10.1038

delivers one hit for Nature, and this one is picked up by the API: ref. 15 in: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AE%B6%E7%89%9B .

There are other cases nonetheless, e.g. ref. 14 in: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%85%A8%E6%96%B0%E4%B8%96%E6%BB%85%E7%B5%95%E4%BA%8B%E4%BB%B6 .
