Watch out for external events (tracking)

Whenever an external event is relevant to the project, open an issue for it and link to this issue, so we can use it for tracking. Please do not ping #118 from that event too, so that we can separate external events from our own stuff. Events that we plan to engage with should have a to do list (as a separate issue that pings the event issue and perhaps #118 and others as well.
