Would you consider porting this to an R package? Also, it would be nice to see some examples on the README page, if possible. Thanks.

I have no concrete plans of porting this to R, though it could certainly be done using the "colorspace" package. The issue is that depending on the parameters, palette computations can take a long time, as colors too close to others are skipped. It is probably more efficient to compute a palette once and then storing it as a file to be imported to R.

I created a very simple version without checking the distance between colors. Not sure how useful this is.
