zoom on the MSA is out of sync

Since splitting the MSA into header and body sections, the zoom functionality is no longer in sync. If you use the slider and buttons in the header to zoom it won't switch modes (overview, sequence). There is also some lag as the range update is doing more work than necessary - revisit the redux implementation?
