And I might as well start! I’m Thibaud, core contributor to Wagtail since 2018. I work at @torchbox, primarily on Wagtail but I also occasionally do consulting on other projects, and even coding sometimes! I primarily work on UI and in particular accessibility these days but also have experience with back-end dev in JS/PHP/Python. Outside of work, these days I spend most of my time with two little tornadoes that are 5 and 2 years old. Usually on a bike but sometimes on other modes of transportation 👉 For Outreachy – this will be the second time I participate. Wagtail first took part last year in December, we had about 200 people involved during the contribution period and then 10 or so people supporting three interns. I was the coordinator, and mentor on all three projects. This year, I’m coordinating, mentoring one project, and backup mentor on another :) |

👋 : Hello everyone!! My name is Chiemezuo, but feel free to call me 'Mezuo'. I'm a Node JS and Django 🐍 developer based in Nigeria. I made it a goal to contribute to open source before my next birthday 🎂 , and Outreachy looked like the best opportunity for that. So much of what I use daily is open source, and I know I have a part to play in contributing 🤝. Wagtail's issue #8365 (Adopt generic class-based views across all areas of admin) caught my attention the quickest out of all the projects listed. And so far, I feel very excited 😄. When I'm not coding, I like to clatter away my thoughts on a keypad or read a nice book 📖. I also love to exercise 🏋️, and do anything that helps me mentally unwind, and takes me away from a screen 💻. For Outreachy, this will be my first time participating, but I've read and followed up with all their sessions to get a good enough understanding. I also realize that at the heart of all open-source communities is communication 📞. I really look forward to the upcoming weeks (and possibly years). |

Hello everyone, my name is Cynthia, an Outreachy Applicant. I'm based in Nigeria. My next birthday is May 3rd 2024. I love to eat and read novels. I'm also passionate about community management. I'm really excited to dive into Wagtail's Accessibility features documentation project as my first step into the open-source world and even in Outreachy. I've always had a knack for taking complex concepts i learn about and breaking them down into their simplest form (yeah you caught me. I love technical writing) :). It's something I genuinely enjoy doing. Now, as I'm starting to learn about accessibility through Wagtail, I've realized just how impactful it can be when it comes to navigating digital platforms. What's even more interesting is that I never really paid attention to these things before, but now they're standing out to me. I'm excited to collaborate with others who share my passion for making technology more inclusive, and I believe this project is a great starting point to make a real impact. |

Hello everyone, My name is Terkuma, pronounced 'Taykuma'. I am from Nigeria and I am a web developer, front end to be specific. I usually work with HTML,CSS ,Tailwind and ReactJS. My adventure doesn't stop there, I am currently learning python programming language. In my personal time, I prefer to listen to podcasts, some of my favorites are Science Vs, Hidden Brain, TechLinked and Easy German Podcast. Listening to music is another activity I really love to do. I listen to a lot of pop these days and some of my favorites in the genre are Post Malone, TheWeeknd and Halsey. Austin, by Post Malone, is an album that has been on my radar for a while now. Occasionally, I get involved in physical activities like running or playing badminton. As a newcomer to the Outreachy program, I'm brimming with excitement and curiosity. For me, it's more than just an opportunity; it's a gateway to acquiring new skills, forging connections with fellow contributors and mentors, and contributing meaningfully to the open source community. I can't wait to get to know you all better. :) |

Hi everyone, Realizing I didn't need to have a computer science degree to learn tech really changed my perspective so I dove in headfirst. When I am not in front of my laptop ruining my eyes, I am reading a novel, taking pictures (documentary photography. I've got quite the collection of candid shots) or chasing my white haired pink nosed bunny around the house. I look forward to being part of a community and learning from everyone |

Hi everyone, my name is Jamillah Bello. I'm from Nigeria, currently residing in Benin City, Nigeria. My primary occupation revolves around freelance technical writing, specializing in documentation and tutorials. I take pride in breaking down complex processes into simple, step-by-step guides. Additionally, I create video content, either showcasing the essential features of products or demonstrating how to use them. And since some people have mentioned their birthdays, I'll just chip in that mine falls on October 22nd 🙈🙈🙈 My interest in Wagtail stems from my recent curiosity about website development. I am presently in the process of building a website for my technical writing, utilizing Codeigniter. Although it has been an enjoyable experience, I can't help but wonder if there are better options available. I recently saw an interactive website that blew my mind and sparked my curiosity, it allowed users to control a virtual bike and ride it through various sections of the site lol that was amazing. This sparked my fascination with website creation and content management systems, and that's honestly why I chose Wagtail, curiosity 😅😅😅 ... While my reason for choosing Wagtail might not be as conventional as others', my curiosity usually leads me to amazing places, so I'm just going to follow it to Wagtail... Outside of my writing and studies, I dedicate my time to mentoring newcomers at Edo Innovates, in the realm of cloud computing with AWS. Volunteering with "EDO Innovates" is my way of giving back to the community that kick-started my tech journey, especially coming from a background in health. For leisure, I watch Anime, cartoons and horror movies, and I spend an unhealthy amount of time reading fan fiction(I always find myself cycling between Harry Potter, Once Upon a Time, and Twilight😅😅😅 ). And for those that don't know, no... Anime and cartoons aren't the same, please... That's a debate I always get roped into 😂😂😂 Don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any inquiries or need help within my area of expertise. I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to learn from everyone and, in return, share any aspects of my knowledge that may be considered valuable. |

Hello everyone, I'm excited to be a part of this discussion group as I explore the opportunity to participate in Outreachy, with a strong interest in contributing to the Wagtail project. Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Olumide Micheal, and I'm currently based in Lagos, Nigeria. I come with a background in Python and Flask, which has allowed me to develop a strong foundation in web development and backend technologies. However, more recently, I've been delving into the world of JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, expanding my skill set to encompass full-stack development and the creation of dynamic, interactive web applications. My journey in open-source communities has been incredibly rewarding, and I'm thrilled to explore how I can apply my technical expertise and passion for collaborative development to the Wagtail Accessibility features documentation project. If anyone has insights, advice, or simply wants to connect, please feel free to reach out. Let's embark on this journey together! |

Hello everyone. Beyond development, I've channeled my passion for writing as the co-lead for technical writing and blogging team within the PyLadies Ghana community. There, we break down Python concepts into digestible tutorials, making programming more accessible to learners. With these experiences, I am very much interested in contributing to the accessibility features documentation project. I mostly use Python especially in the areas of data science and machine learning, and I've always been interested in many parts of tech. Being a beneficiary of many open source initiatives and products, I think it's now time to start giving back. I hope that with Outreachy and Wagtail, I can start my journey into open source contribution. I am obsessed with productivity tools and systems and I'm deeply committed to the principles of the Second Brain methodology. In my idle times I mostly like to read and listen to audiobooks alongside and yah I like to sleep as well. 😂 |

Hello Everyone, my name is Chidera, and I am a Backend Developer. I write codes using Python and its frameworks such as Django and FastAPI. I am currently in Nigeria. Participating in Outreachy will help me get mentorship from seasoned developers, which will deepen my knowledge. My interest in wagtail stemmed because it was written with my favourite framework-Django, and how one can quickly scaffold a blog using it. Its flexibility for developers is also very appealing to me. Having skimmed over some parts of the documentation, the project (Adopt generic class-based views across all areas of admin) resonates with me. It promises to be challenging and exciting, which is what I greatly crave at this stage of my career. When I am not coding, I write technical articles about Postgres. I also spend my day reading paranormal and thriller novels from renowned authors such as Laurie Forest and John Grisham. I look forward to collaborating and learning from you all. |

Hello, I'm Brian Mugo from Kenya, a dedicated programmer with a strong passion for Inclusive Education and Web Accessibility. I'm eager to participate in Outreachy with Wagtail because I believe in equal opportunities for all, especially within the tech community. Wagtail's project #3 on wagtail.org accessibility particularly interests me, as it offers a chance to apply and expand my Web Accessibility skills to ensure the website is accessible to everyone, regardless of disabilities, ensuring we all win at the end of the day. My journey into Outreachy and open source contributions began during my time as a volunteer at Ushahidi Inc. There, I gained exposure to Web Accessibility, Code Architecture, Maintenance, and Technical Documentation. This experience taught me that contributing to a community is about giving and sharing knowledge, and celebrating each other's successes, no matter how small. Beyond my keyboard, I enjoy weightlifting, learning Arabic, and reading and listening to the Quran.listening to podcasts on topics like EdTech and Psychology, I understand that Outreachy and open source communities thrive on collaboration and shared contributions, and I'm excited to be a part of that journey. |

Hi everyone! I'm Shakhrizoda, you can call me Sherry though :) I got into tech during my time at university when I took a C++ course (honestly I wasn't a fan) I somehow completed the course, even though I found it challenging. Not so long after that course, I discovered web development and decided to give it a shot to see if it was any easier than C++. I actually enjoyed it, so I went through a full stack bootcamp where I learned JS, HTML, CSS, React, and RoR. Recently I've been volunteering as a frontend dev on a tech squad at @cherryontech, where we’ve been working on a web app that helps diverse learners see themselves in STEM fields and remind them that they belong. Our idea is sort of similar to Outreachy, which is why I was tempted to apply in the first place! I’m so glad I made it to the contribution stage, and I’m looking forward to contributing to a project, whether it’s wagtail.org website accessibility or accessibility features documentation (I’m still not sure because I’m new to Django) |

Hello everyone, I am Wanja Njung'e, a Kenyan based in Nairobi. I'm also a first time Outreachy applicant. Being a self taught developer I have greatly benefited from Open Source products as well as well written technical documentation. I cannot wait to also make it easier for others to navigate a product aided by precise documentation. When I am not on my screen I always have a hook and yarn in hand. I make all sorts of cute crocheted beanies, cardigans and bikinis for my loved ones. I am lucky because I get free muses to practice on and even when they are ill-fitting we can laugh it off as I learn what not to do next time. I enjoy reading a lot too though lately I'd been having reader's block and randomly picked up a Chimamanda book and now I'm 3 books in regretting why I'd never indulged her before lol. Outreachy has presented this exciting challenge, collaborating, connecting with other like minded individuals and the opportunity to be a part of the open source community. Time to dig in! |

Hello Everyone, Selam (in Amharic) My name is Melaku, an Ethiopian Frontend developer. I have been creating web based apps using React, NodeJs and Python. My experience is more of a frontend and optimizing websites for better accessibility and performance. That's why I was interested on accessibility project in wagtail. Being my eyes already stuck on this issue (#10949) I'm also looking forward to make wagtail accessible for everyone. In addition to my passion for coding, I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in the fascinating world of history. I'm looking forward to start my open source journey with Outreachy and wagtail. |
