Velero Backup and Restore in OKE

Hello everyone,

I am relatively new to Velero, Kubernetes, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and I would appreciate some guidance on setting up and using Velero for backing up and restoring an application running in Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE).

I have successfully installed Velero on both my client machine and within the cluster, and I have been able to take backups. However, I am uncertain whether the data backed up by Velero is complete. Could anyone advise on how to verify the integrity and completeness of the backup?

Additionally, when attempting to restore from a Velero backup, the data does not appear to be restored, and the application behaves as though it were freshly installed, with no previous data present. Could anyone provide insight into why this might be happening or suggest steps to ensure the restore process works as expected?

Lastly, I would also like to know how to configure the backup retention policy to prevent backups from expiring.

You might have created a backup without PV data. Velero offers multiple ways to backup PV data. Some helpful doc links:
