Allow "Encrypt the whole drive" for GPT disks by excluding the EFI partition

Desired behavior

The "Encrypt the whole drive" option should be available for disks using the GPT partitioning scheme. The feature could exclude the EFI System Partition (ESP) from encryption while encrypting all other partitions. This would enable full disk encryption for user data on modern systems that require GPT, without compromising bootloader functionality.

Additional information

This enhancement would bring GPT support closer to parity with MBR disks and align with user expectations for full drive encryption in modern environments. Also it will allow easily load applications that are run after OS start from other disk partitions without decrypting other partitions manually.

Your Environment

VeraCrypt version: 1.26.15 (64-bit)
Operating system and version: Windows 11 Enterprise 26100.2454 (24H2)
System type: x64
