Adding Custom Formatter

I'm trying to pretty format the ArrayBase class from the ndarray crate, but I'm unable to find how or where I can define custom formatters.

I see that formatters are provided from the standard library types, and it would be straightforward to adapt one of them for this purpose (e.g. StdVecSynthProvider), but how do I go about adding a new ArrayBaseSynthProvider within a particular project?

A bit of guidance would be greatly appreciated.

This doesn't really explain how I can configure vscode-lldb to automatically load the python script and register the synthetic provider. I also don't see how I would be able to build on the classes define in rust.py linked in my original question.

It does, just maybe not very prominently. This is done via the command script import <your python file> command, which you can put into lldb.launch.initCommands configuration setting. Your module should define the __lldb_init_module function which will be called right after importing. See this for more.

Please don't. There is absolutely no guarantee that the internal details of rust formatters will not change from version to version. If you like some bit, copy it to your module.
