I had was not aware of this until now: Global Recordings Network’s “Registry of Dialects”. It contains 3,800+ dialect names (with alternates) for languages known to have distinct media needs. They use ISO 639-3 language codes (as do we, where they exist) and (apparently) a custom dialect tag. The data is updated and available in TAB and JSON formats which means it should be relatively easy to access. I think we want this imported into tD as it may greatly help the search for “what language is this?” which is the biggest bottleneck we have for new projects:
