In contrast to the earlier post, the controls default to my 2nd monitor. I have an Asus Zenbook Pro Duo laptop. I am not a developer, but have a deep interest in managing the brightness on my laptop...happy to provide any data that may help resolve.

To add a bit more information, I am running Ubuntu 19.10 and latest Gnome DE. Both are updated frequently. The video card is a NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2060 mobile. Kernel version is 5.3.0-26-generic.

My computer is also the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo laptop. I use the Ubuntu 20.04 and I cannot use this program to control the brightness of my both screen. It shows
TypeError: expected str, bytes or os.PathLike object, not NoneType.

Okey. I've solved this problem by searching the key word "screenpad" and get the solution.
. If you have other problems, pls read the issues about the kernel.
