@ItzSwirlz I did a fast look to this package and I found strange thing:

  • gsettings-ovverride seems many, are really all needed? for example the gedit ones don't seems good to have or max only some if gedit have important usability issue with default settings on cinnamon
  • postinst remove many files from other package that is a bad things, is better find if there are packages with only debian specific things and make ubuntu specific small change to cinnamon package or metapackage that include it. Is for example desktop-base that was removed in c-d-e previous ubuntu specific version?

The settings-overrides are needed to help with the default environment style.

The goal of the post install is to remove Debian wallpapers, that's why I've kept it, but I don't think it actually worked. It's been a while, so I need to check if they still show up. But yeah, that file is a bad idea.

I'm now testing this: https://salsa.debian.org/cinnamon-team/cinnamon-desktop-environment/-/commit/89e54e1000a6a4d52f8f9d998fa923b1d3b1ee3f
If it will be ok this commit can be kept on Ubuntu specific version of c-d-e.

Ubuntu installer seems to have gotten worse in recent years, up until Ubuntu 20.04 I was able to do a good minimal installation, now it seems they removed it and mini.iso requires a huge amount of ram and a download of gb before starting, it seems absurd to me.
I then tried to select the server installation but the options are limited and it installs a large amount of things even without a desktop.
Is there perhaps some better option that I have not found?
