It might be nice to also support describing other operations with our step syntax. This could include things such as maintenance tasks, flashing system partitions without replacing the OS, backups, etc. There might be operations that only apply to a specific OS, as well as some that apply to all.

Since this is an addition, it'd be a non-breaking change we could add to v2.
