Can't get Cromite to use local Orbot/Tor in HTTP/SOCKS proxy mode, pls advise

Hi I'm trying to configure Cromite to use local Orbot/Tor as a proxy.
I've tried to fill "use PAC URL" in both PAC (HTTP 127.0.0.1:8118, SOCKS 127.0.0.1:9050) and dumb way (just 127.0.0.1:8118), I've also tried to use "lists" fields. However, if I Apply settings, then

1. proxy type selection is reset immediately to Direct
2. if I exit and then come back, address is erased/empty
3. obviously, if I retry https://check.torproject.org - it shows I'm not using Tor.

Overall , if I use Orbot in a regular way without a proxy, tor network works. Is there anything that I do wrong here?

personally, I do not recommend it

to trust directly whom would never have otherwise needed 
to or had access to your package in the first place. It’d be

asking them to put it into the mailbox for you instead of 
doing it yourself.

no, you would look too different from other browsers that navigate with a tor network, notoriously, the tor browser.
if you want to use a tor network, then use tor browser not cromite.

do you by chance know Gecko vs Chromium distribution for Tor network?
as otherwise, dunno how using Cromite over VPN will differ from "over Tor", from fingerprinting point of view.
my "threats model" is not targeting "feds", rather data miners.

eh, good question.

if you want to use a tor network, then use tor browser not cromite.

tor's goal is to make you anonymous, i.e. to eliminate all factors that contribute to making you different from others.
in android it does not, but in the desktop version it does.
so, I had to be more precise, with "use tor browser - the desktop version - not cromite".

in my opinion no difference (in android), but that is my opinion.
cromite has the same limitations as tor, maybe when I finish #981 and #1271 something will change.

I think proxy doesn't work in general in Cromite Windows. I can';t even make it work with Switchy Omega plugin which works in Brave, Chrome and Firefox just fine with the exact same proxy settings.
