I'd love to be able to connect to a remote host and query misc data for example installed software or running processes, things of the like.

Hey @12nick12 , for the hosts you're looking to retrieve data from, are they hosted anywhere in particular, e.g., AWS, Azure, in-house data centers? Also, are there any particular authentication methods you commonly use today to connect to the hosts?

Some of what you're describing sounds similar to information that tools like osquery can provide today. A community member has actually started a Steampipe plugin to use with osquery in steampipe-plugin-osquery. I haven't had an opportunity to try it out yet, but I wonder if that would help you in what you're looking for.
