Endless discovery loop when starting ring-mqtt (docker)

I have a clean docker install, with the following config.json:

For some reason it keeps looping - it does discovery and then it seems to restart. I have tried debug output but nothing shows that indicates why it would restart.

All devices are online

Never mind, "enable_cameras": true, is the issue. When I set it to false, things start to work. Why it quietly restarts is a puzzle to me.

Yeah debug didn't give me anything to work with Sadly. Thanks for the quick replies and thanks for developing this nice project!

i seem to be having the same issue or perhaps related. i noticed that my camera snapshots dropped a couple of weeks ago but wasn't able to troubleshoot until today. when i restart the addon i see this from the ring addon side:

but from the mqtt side where i would normally see a connection i see no activity.

did i miss a breaking change? i don't see a user called addons in the config file so i'm guessing that's all handled automagically in a way that i once knew when i set this up years ago. all of my entities are stale because no communication is happening between teh addon and mqtt at this point.

either way, it seems to be stuck on mqtt discovery.

*edit: as a workaround i tried setting the username, password and url manually and i'm running into the same issue. it just gets to here and comes to a halt forever.

This thread isn't about MQTT discovery and likely has nothing to do with your issue, please don't mix issues in the same thread, it's too confusing. Hangs at such an early state (before everything is even loaded) would normally indicate a lack of resources, usually RAM.

appreciate the quick reply but my log file looks like the one posted in the question and it loops. so, it's a bit brash for you to make a comment like that when my only intention was to not mix issues or create duplicates.

i'll open a separate discussion (or not) and i won't add to this one.

I was only going off of what was in your post which described the behavior as "seems to be stuck on mqtt discovery" and "comes to a halt forever", which is completely opposite of a restart loop, although weirdly in your reply you suddenly speak of looping. Between that, and the fact that the logs you posted show a completely different part of the startup sequence as the OP, it was difficult to see how it could be construed as a similar issue.

That being said, I didn't ascribe any ill will to you for posting here, I just stated why, based on your description ("stuck" and "halt forever") and logs posted, that I don't believe it is a similar issue, and asked not to mix issues in this thread. I'm not sure what is brash about that. I guess I could have split the reply out into it's own topic manually.
