Recently bought some nest protects and wanted to integrate them into my smartthings hub. Ran into a problem when attempting to log into my nest account in the nest manager app in iOS (after adding the apps in the IDE, setting up oauth and all that). New nest setups use Google authentication and not native nest accounts anymore thus I cannot login into my nest account and the setup fails at http://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=NST_Manager#Getting_NST_Manager_Installed_and_Configured item "Enter Nest Login credentials when prompted."

Verify the following before opening an issue:

  • You followed the Nest Developer documentation here? Nest Developer Account Creation
  • That OAuth is Enabled for the SmartApp under the IDE.
  • The SmartApps and ALL (5) Devices Handlers are using the latest code available.
  • You have reviewed the NST Manager Wiki for potential fixes.
  • That ALL SmartApps and Device Handlers have been Published for You in the IDE.

About Your Setup:

  • How many Thermostats?: 0
  • How many Protects? 7
  • How many Cameras? 0
  • Using the Nest Presence Device? 0
  • Using the Nest Weather Device? 0
  • iOS or Android?: iOS
  • Mobile App Version:

Sorry @h00pz,

Google shut down the API that allows this to work. Apparently it's impossible now for new users to get a Nest account - and Google has broken this integration. See https://community.smartthings.com/t/broken-nst-manager-v5-0-does-not-work-anymore/83228

Not a great decision by Google.

This is painful :( I'm very much hoping for a solution sometime, but I know it's probably in Google's hands to allow access to the data. I'm guessing the Google Smart Actions would not allow for the same type of integration as Works with Nest did.

When I migrated to a Google account from a Nest account, I believe that's when all my Nest stuff stopped working in SmartThings.

As someone who uses a lot of Nest devices (cameras, smoke detectors, security system, door locks), SmartThings has now become almost useless for me. I have my Hue lights and Kasa/Wemo devices set up in there, but I have no reason to control/automate them from there if most of my other devices are not present. At this point, SmartThings is just my water leak detector hub.

Any updates? I should never have migrated my account :(

It seems as though a new incarnation of "Works With Nest" has just been released. @tonesto7 any idea what an integration with that would take? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9539279?hl=en.
