To lessen the visual clutter, drawing of the unread notification badge with count of 0 on Outlook icon could be skipped.
Would also conform and sit nicely next to Google Mail Checker extension that does not draw unread count if there is none.

To update this, it looks like this has been implemented in the consumer Outlook.com notifier, possibly means a solution can be copied across?
