Fussy comments on qStudio 3.10 #92
Comments
I absolutely agree with this approach. And since I only use a tiny bit of the interface, I am unaware of the larger context of how "the rest of the world" uses qStudio. I will continue my practice of pointing out things that seem odd to me, or that might be improved. But I want to state clearly that it's YOUR project, and unless you hear a groundswell of support (or unless it seems like a good idea), you should take my suggestions with a grain of salt. Thanks! |
I have been using qStudio 3.10 on a Mac for a little bit, and it's really fun. I have some comments on things that would improve the user experience. None of these is a serious problem, but added together they would make a difference:
Title bar displays too much info. It looks like
${file-being-edited} ${database-name} ${registed-email}
Maybe it should just sayqStudio #.##
Is there a window that I can use to view contents of a table? It currently seems that the "Results" window is used for both the result of a query and a table's contents... Sometimes I want to do both. Perhaps the latter could be named "Browse"
Keyboard shortcuts (Cmd/Ctl 1, 2, 3 .. 8?) to open each of the window types in the Windows menu: (maybe add "Browse" as Cmd/Ctl-9)
I have questions about the registration process. I'll create a separate issue
Download page of the main website could list current version
Apple menu "About QStudioLauncher" should open the Help -> About window
As noted in Feature request: New "Query" command that handles entire window of text #90, a new "Query" command. 50% of the time I screw up and forget to un-select the recently commented-out line
Many thanks for considering these thoughts.
