With 614 events in Feb, I'm generating more than 900 sql calls and a total processing time of more than 10,000 ms. This might work for a personal to-do calendar, but it won't work for a larger-scale events calendar.

Are you doing any caching?

Are you using select_related?

Are you sure about your numbers? Ten seconds for 900 sql's seems way too much. Which view are you rendering?
