TweetKiller

Mass Delete Tweets and Likes from Twitter/X

Introduction

I was not at all happy with the other cli mass deletion tools. They were aweful so I made this and tried to make it as simple as possible.

Instructions

  • This assumes you know how to make a twitter developer account and add a project and app.
  • You need to make a developer account. (https://developer.twitter.com)
  • You need to make a project and an app with read/write permissions.
  • You need to edit auth.json with your keys.
  • You need to request and download an archive of your twitter data.
    • Settings -> Your Account -> Download an archive of your data
  • Once you have your zip change the name to archive.zip and put it in the TweetKiller directory.
  • Example to delete the 10 most recent tweets: ./tweet-killer.py --tweets --count 10
  • Example to delete the 10 most recent likes: ./tweet-killer.py --likes --count 10
  • The script runs in safe mode by default. Use --delete to really do the deletions.
  • Just run the script by itself for help.

Disclaimer

  • In order to mass delete likes you must have a Basic Developer account which costs $100/month.
  • Mass deleting tweets will work with the Free account.
  • Account types can be found here (https://developer.twitter.com/en/products/twitter-api)
  • Downloading an archive of your data can take up to 48 hours. Be patient.
