Project abandoned?

We've found taxee.io very useful in the past, but we're now a month and a half into 2021, and the rates have not been updated for the new year

Will these be coming, or is it time for us to look elsewhere for this functionality?

just found about this project and sad to see it only goes to 2020, seems like a very useful service! robertatcd, did you find a replacement that has up-to-date 2021 rates available?

Hey has anyone found a good, cheap alternative?

We were looking into:
https://www.symmetry.com/calculators-by-symmetry

Apparently Gusto and other large brands use them but it's not cheap.

We might write our own solution and open source it.

Depending on your use case I've been using Abound as an alternative to Symmetry. https://docs.withabound.com/reference/introduction Developer friendly but use cases are still limited to targeting 1099 economy for state and federal, no sales tax or local city tax.

If anyone's still looking to fill Taxee's gap, we at PolicyEngine serve an tax calculation API (here's our documentation). We're a nonprofit and currently serve tax and benefit computations free of charge, and our rules are open source at https://github.com/PolicyEngine/policyengine-us.

Currently we have federal income tax and state income tax models in six states: MA, MD, NY, OR, PA, and WA. We'll also likely finish CA, IL, and MO in the next month. But we could pretty quickly ingest this taxee data so we can serve brackets and compute rough tax before credits in all states if there's appetite.
