The Formal Integral code right now is not very readable and is programmed more in the style of C with pointers than in a pythonic fashion

Describe the solution you'd like
Remove pointers, utilize numpy vectorization, and possibly remove variable-length for-loops with masks

Rodot- added the formal integral label
