These are some possible goals:

  • make good documentation more visible (e.g. by showcasing the winners)
  • inspire others to improve documentation by showing some positive examples
  • "proove" that creating documentation with reStructuredText and Sphinx (.rst files) is possible and done by community members (not just for official documentation)
  • "find" innovative, new and good solutions for some of the documentation "dilemmas" (how to solve ...)
  • get together as community and do something together (everyone can participate)
  • put the topic documentation on everyone's radar

This issue is just a reminder of possible goals and can be used to revisit goals and check if we can target some of the goals with additional, specific actions.

There was motivation for the award, but we noticed some other side effects and the focus changed slightly during the preparation phase. For example, having v11 support as a requirement was not originally planned, but was added as motivation to push extensions to get ready for v11 (and as additional selection criteria to reduce the number of extensions).

Perhaps in the future to not mix in too many goals in the award, revisit the goals from time to time and perhaps handle some goals with more specific actions, either in combination with the award or independently of the award.
