We ship a validation.xml configuration for the phpcr document. It is impossible to change validation, bundle overwrites do not work for this.

It seems that the best way is to move all validations into a validation group and allow to configure the validation group to use, an example seems to be in FOSUserBundle. The problem is quickly explained in http://symfony.com/doc/current/cookbook/bundles/override.html#validation-metadata
