Update Technology terminology in code

A handful of places in the code still use the Technology terminology which doesn't match the user-facing terminology.

This can be confusing, even to frequent contributors like myself, and result in bugs. It would be good to update this terminology to match the user-facing terminology in symbol names and documentation comments.

We deprecate the previous names to avoid unnecessary source breaking changes.

Are there any somethings that can be made to ease of distinction?

It’s difficult to do anything other than renaming these symbols—which I think we should do.

Some of these are public symbols so we’d need to deprecate the old names (instead of removing them).

Additionally it would be good for us to write down a list of various user facing terminology and non-user facing terminology.
