This is not trivial, as collapsing the sidebar hides the "home", "research", and "new document" buttons. It might not be advisable to remove these three top-level buttons. We risk losing some people in their understanding of the software.
This request is legitimate, however. Especially since it's empty right now, so it makes sense to want to remove it. But we should probably wait until we receive more complaints about this. Because this is a typical case of balancing "what you gain" vs "what you lose".
My suggestion: Let's wait for the subpages to be added, and see if this criticism persists.
