The Linux community has been gradually deprecating X11 and transitioning to Wayland. This issue was previously mentioned in a Steinberg forum post.
Since then, Wayland has gained a protocol for window embedding called xdg-foreign, supported by most major compositors. This is already in use by the FileChooser desktop portal to display file dialogs parented to a window, removing the most major roadblock for supporting Wayland.
