From note directory run
    bundle exec jekyll s

Open a browser to:
    http://127.0.0.1:4000/

Note: you don't have to re-run the command with every change. Just leave the server running and you'll notice Regenerating: messages as you make changes. 

Note: if the site stops rendering on the internet but you didn't change anything that would break it...
check http vs https in the URL and if it's not working with https then go to github settings and click the force https box.
