Error in fetch kafka.consumer.ConsumerFetcherThread$FetchRequest@224dc69c (kafka.consumer.ConsumerFetcherThread)
java.nio.BufferUnderflowException
at java.nio.HeapByteBuffer.get(HeapByteBuffer.java:145)

Why cant I get a topic to be consumed

I am running this on AWS ami
